WICKING
Every pattern from our hand punched metal
collection can be used for making a picture or pillow by using the candle
wicking craft. Making French Knots for the dots and using a Whip Stitch
where there is a curved or straight line. The whip stitch could be
done on a sewing machine or by hand. This is a very simple, but satisfying
craft. We can make up any personalized pattern or special orders.
We are in the process of remaking each pattern so
that it can be ironed on to the fabric of your choice. We used Muslin for
our pictures, but it could be put on any fabric.
Candle wicking gets it's name because the thread
that was used to make the wicks for candles in olden times was used to make
the knots and for the whip stitch. Today we can use any type of embroidery
thread.
Our patterns will come with complete instructions
and diagrams so they will be easy to follow.
